Florida Department of Health Screening Guidelines
The Florida Department of Health Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (FBCCEDP) also known as the Mary Brogan Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program, makes it easy to get the breast and cervical cancer screenings doctors recommend. The screenings are free or low cost if you meet program eligibility requirements.Â
Eligibility criteria for free breast cancer screenings include women ages 40-64 years and eligibility criteria for free cervical cancer screenings include women ages 50-64. This includes women with little or no health insurance, who meet income guidelines (at or below 200% of the poverty level).
Services provided include:
- Breast and cervical cancer screening exams (clinical breast exams, mammograms, and Pap tests).
- Diagnostic funds are reserved for women screened through the program.
- Care coordination to all clients with abnormal exams.
- Women screened through the program and diagnosed with breast or cervical cancer are referred to the Florida Medicaid Program for eligibility determination.
- Paid breast and cervical cancer treatment through Medicaid for eligible women screened through the program.
- Outreach and public education.

FBCF understands it may be overwhelming to find support resources when faced with a breast cancer diagnosis. Although FBCF does not provide funds or direct services, FBCF has dedicated staff to provide guidance to breast cancer patients and their families in need of support, such as medical services, financial support, or emotional support, among other needs.
