What We Do
Our projects
We educate women on breast health and the importance of annual mammography screenings
The Beautiful Gate Cancer Support & Resource Center is a Florida based 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides resources, education, advocacy, and support to vulnerable communities of color affected by the disease of cancer.
MASS Program
MASS, created by The Beautiful Gate Inc., is the signature breast health education and screening program of the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation. The MASS program’s goal is to reduce late-stage breast cancer diagnoses in uninsured women in the State of Florida by providing breast health education and access to *FREE mammograms provided by the Florida Department of Health Mary Brogan Breast & Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program.
BEING A WOMAN
Our Being A Woman online breast cancer support group is open to women who are newly diagnosed, survivors, thrivers and caregivers. Our group provides a safe and confidential space to share information, feelings, provide and receive support and learn from one another while being surrounded by women who understand.
Access to FREE Mammograms & Resources
The most important screening test for breast cancer is the mammogram
Advocacy

Healing by Helping Others
My name is Sonya Johnson-Bain, and I have known Pamela Burnett (President and Founder of The Beautiful Gate) since my Triple Negative Breast Cancer diagnosis of 2006. I met Ms. Burnett at a Breast Cancer function in Miami at Mount Sinai Hospital where she had this amazing group of women with her who were all survivors of breast cancer.
I was recently diagnosed and in a very dark place. I was drawn to Pam and her sister survivors because everyone appeared happy and full of life. I was feeling as if I had a death sentence and was without hope. There was no one in my circle who understood me and my mental state. The light was shining in Pam’s camp and I had to go there. The rest is history.I have been a volunteer of The Beautiful Gate and worked in whatever capacity I was needed. I have seen Ms. Burnett give selflessly of her time and resources for almost two decades. She is consistent, passionate, and aggressive in seeking the most up-to-date information regarding different kinds of cancer and research in the field. The Beautiful Gate is progressive in developing ways to reach women and men of color; the uninsured; the underinsured, and to provide opportunities for their Mammograms and Pap Smears. Hence, she developed the MASS (Mammograms After Sunday Service in 2015) as a means to reach people of color that would potentially catch cancer in an early stage. The Beautiful Gate navigates communities in some of the poorest Counties throughout the State of Florida. Some of these areas are not the safest for people of color. However, Pam’s commitment and passion to Fight cancer over-rides her fear of potential harm to herself. Because of her courage and genuine concern and her ability to connect with the residents, Pam is successful in gaining the trust of residents in these communities. The Beautiful Gate started from humble beginnings in Pam’s kitchen table and has continued for almost 20 years. Ms. Burnett has numerous awards and achievements, but her greatest asset is her humble heart and love for her community. As long as I am breathing, I intend to support The Beautiful Gate. I can never repay the organization and Ms Burnett for what I have benefited from over these years.
